Project 1: Postcard
For this project, I chose to create a series of three postcards containing one object each. I wanted something cute and fun, so I chose lipstick, diamond, and champagne. I tried new ways of construction for this project, for instance I kissed a piece of paper and scanned and traced it to construct the lips on the back of the first postcard. I also used the mesh tool for the champagne to construct a realistic looking champagne bottle & glass. I chose to stick to simple colors for the background, using the circle on the front of the postcard as the color of the background on the back of the postcards. I felt the message would be more effective and versatile without any text on the card, as it is more of an invitation than a destination postcard.
While drafting, I did a few sketches of cute objects that fit in with my aesthetic for this project. Amongst the three final drafts, I also conceptualized a heel and flip phone for the postcard. Ultimately I chose to go with the diamond, lipstick and champagne glass.

Project 2: Line Icon
For this assignment, I wanted to create a fun icon representatitve of myself. While drafting out ideas, I figured there was no better way to represent myself than a crown with my initial on it. The icon is scaled in various sizes with varying stroke weights.
I drafted multiple possible icons to be used, but felt that a crown would be the most fun and exciting design out of the choices.

Project 3: Illustration
This assignment allowed us to create illustrations based off of news articles. I do not find conventional news particularly interesting, so I found something that did interest me: drag queens. I chose to look for articles containing interviews with the drag queens Miss Fame, Naomi Smalls & Farrah Moan. I wanted the illustrations to be realistic looking, so I took pictures from their Instagram accounts and with the help of the mesh tool, I was able to create realistic looking gradients. I also used the brush tool heavily to create artistic lines on places such as the nose, ears, hands, and hair.
The first illustration I worked on was Naomi Smalls, regarding her interview with Fader Magazine, in which she is one of their people to watch in 2019. This article highlights her drag aesthetic and how she has changed as a person since her season of Rupaul's Drag Race in 2016. The article then discusses what to expect from her on the latest season of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars. Naomi Smalls is known for her strong fashion aesthetic, so I wanted to have a strong illustration. I constructed this based off of an image from her Instagram, and used mesh gradients and brush strokes to create this piece.
Sticking with the theme of drag queens, I found another article with Gay Times Magazine interviewing Farrah Moan, who also appeared on the latest season of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars. The interview discusses how her life has been since All Stars 4 ended, and her response to criticism. The interview also touches upon her thoughts on some of the biggest moments throughout the season, and what's next for her career. A lot is being discussed in the interview, so I wanted to stick with a strong image relating to the article title "Farrah Moan is not here for your criticism". I chose to create an illustration in a similar style as Naomi Smalls, and wanted a strong, fierce look.
Lastly, I found an interview from Paper Magazine with Miss Fame, discussing her all-inclusive beauty line "Miss Fame Beauty". The interview highlights her contributions to the beauty community and her career as a model. The interview then discusses her latest launch of "Miss Fame Beauty" and the work that went in to launch her line. The illustration I constructed is based off of an image from her Instagram account, promoting Miss Fame Beauty. After creating the illustratiomn, I went back and decided to make a GIF for it. The GIF showcases all five of the lipsticks launched with the beauty line, with each lip & lipstick color changing throughout the frames.
I mostly stuck to my vision for the sketch for Miss Fame, and was able to create the GIF that I wanted to accompany it. I knew I wanted something realistic looking, and I decided to stick with the theme for the rest of the sketches. Naomi Smalls is known for her long legs and big lips, and I pondered upon the idea of creating a leg pattern and using it as the background. However, I decided to stick with something simple and strong, as well with Farrah Moan's illustration.

Project 4: UX Design
This group assignment enabled us to get a feel of UX Design, as we redesigned the Binghamton University Residential Life website. In particular, I worked on the "Parents & Guardians" section of the website. I created a user persona, revised wireframes, and updated the site map, in order to make navigation more simple and concise.
